Web forwarding
What is web forwarding?
Web forwarding allows you to get the easiest web address in the
world, your .name address, while using any webpage host in the
world.
If you have an existing website, you can
use web forwarding to point your new address to your existing
site. For example, if your old address is www.geocities.com/~ptermorgan22
and your new .name is www.peter.morgan.name, when your friends
and family type in www.peter.morgan.name, they will see the site
located on www.geocities.com/~ptermorgan22.
http://peter.morgan.name
http://www.geocities.com/~ptermorgan22
Full portability
There are multiple websites offering good tools to create webpages.
If you later decide to create a website with another tool, for
example www.moonfruit.com, you don't have to tell your friends
and family that your homepage has changed!
Simply use webforwarding, and www.peter.morgan.name
(if that is your .name) will show your page now located on www.moonfruit.com/users/petemor4523.html
(or whatever the URL is).
Therefore, quite like email forwarding, web
forwarding gives you the power to change webpage host when you
like, while always keeping the same address, your own easy-to-remember
.name address!
